41. …지 말고 [A] : don’t … and [A]

      (Replace […] with the stem of the infinitive verb or adjective)

 

1) Don’t hesitate and stand up. (주저하다 to hesitate, 일어나다 to stand up)

 

 

2) Don’t cry and say it. (울다 to cry)

 

 

3) Don’t go home and play with me.

        

 

4) 숙제를 잊지 말고 하세요. (잊다 to forget)

 

 

5) 말썽부리지 말고 가만히 있어. (말썽부리다 to casue a trouble, 가만히 있다 to stay still)

          

 

 

42. Noun 말고 : not Noun, except Noun, but Noun

 

1) He likes coffee not tea. (차 tea)

 

 

2) Please give me this not that one. (이것 this 저것 that)

 

 

3) Please write with a pencil not with a pen. (연필 pencil, 펜 pen, 로 with)

 

 

4) I will wear a pair of pants not a skirt. (치마 skirt, 바지pants)

 

 

5) I want to eat Kimchi stew not Bulgogi. (불고기 Bulgogi, 김치찌개Kimchi stew)

 

 

6) I teach English not French in Korea.

    (프랑스어 French, 영어 English,  가르치다 to teach)

44. …ㄹ게요 I will… (near future)

      (Replace […] with the stem of the infinitive verb or adjective)

 

• …ㄹ게요 the subject should be ‘I’
• It will happen really soon
• The Subejct ‘I’ tell other people in order to make sure that ‘I’ is going to do something really soon

 

1) 지금 갈게요.

 

 

2) 카드로 낼게요. (카드 card, 내다 to pay)

 

 

3) 현금으로 낼게요 (현금 cash, 내다 to pay)

 

 

4) 연락할게요 (연락하다 to keep in touch)

 

 

5) I am going to wake up early in the morning.

    (일찍, 아침에 in the morning, 일어나다 to wake up)

       (Replace […] with the stem of the infinitive verb or adjective)

 

1) 명동에서 한복을 빌려 입을 수 있어요.

    (명동Myungdong, 한복 Hanbok-Korean traditional clothes, 빌려 입다 rent and wear)

 

 

2) 일을 다섯시까지 끝낼 수 있어요.

    (일work, 다섯시5 o’clock, 까지 until,  끝내다 to finish something)

 

 

3) 수영할 수 있어요 (수영하다to swim)

 

 

4) I can drive a car. (차 car, 운전하다 to drive)

 

 

5) Where can I find an apartment? (찾다 to find)

 

 

6) The subway station and the supermarket are in the walking distance.

   (걸어다닐 수 있는 거리 walking distance)

 

 

46.  … 면 돼요it is ok to…, it is enough to…

      (Replace […] with the stem of the infinitive verb or adjective)

 

• literally it means “if …,  it is ok”

 

1) 당신을 만나러 어디로 가면 돼요? (로 to)

• …러 가다 to go in order to…

 

 

2) A. 한국어를 못해서 걱정이에요. (걱정이에요  it is a worrisome)

 

    B. 걱정하지 마세요. 영어로 말하면 돼요.

 

 

3) A. I can’t meet you because I am sick today.

• ~서 because ~

  

     B. It is ok. We can meet next time.

 

 

4) A. I don’t have time today.

   

     B. If you don’t have time, we can meet next time.

 

 

5) You can think redbeans bingsu as ice snack.

    (팥빙수 redbeans bingsu, 얼음 과자 ice snack)

 

 

6) Without worries it is enough to be happy. (걱정 없이 without worries)

     (Replace […] with the stem of the infinitive verb or adjective)

 

• Interrogative form) ….ㄹ래요? Would you like to…?

 

1) Q. 와인을 마실래요?

 

    A. 네, 와인을 마실래요.

 

 

 

2) Q 사귈래요? (사귀다 to make a friend, to date someone)

 

     A 그래요. 사귑시다.
