6. … 기 위해(서) in order to …
(Replace […] with the stem of the infinitive verb or adjective)
- …려고 planning to…, trying to…
- …기 위해(서) is NOT applicable within a sentence that has one of the following verbs: 가다, 오다, 나가다, 나오다
- …러 가다 to go in order to…
- …러 오다 to come in order to…
- …러 나가다 to go out in order to…
- …러 나오다 to come out in order to…
i.e) 살기 위해서 먹어요. I eat in oder to live. (살다 to live)
7. …(으)러 가다 to go in order to …
(Replace […] with the stem of the infinitive verb or adjective)
i.e) 헬스장에 운동하러 가는 중이에요. I am going to the gym in order to exercise.
(헬스장 gym, …고 있어요 = …는 중이에요 Be Verb + …ing)
8. …(으)러 나가다 to go out in order to…
(Replace […] with the stem of the infinitive verb or adjective)
i.e) 저는 운동하러 나가요. I go out to work out.
9. …(으)러 오다 to come in order to …
(Replace […] with the stem of the infinitive verb or adjective)
i.e) Q 제 연극을 보러 오세요. Please come to see my play. (연극 theatrical play)
A 네, 보러 갈게요. Ok, I will go to see it.
10. …(으)러 나오다 to come out in order to …
(Replace […] with the stem of the infinitive verb or adjective)
i.e) 바람을 쐬러 공원에 나왔어요. I came out to the park to have a refreshment.
(바람을 쐬다 to have a refreshment, 공원 park, …러 나오다 to come out in order to…)
