Q & A

1. Is 당신을 보고 싶어요 's literal translation "I want to see (you)" which is used to mean "I miss (you)"? -> Its meaning can be both :  I want to see/watch sth or I miss you

2. How do we know it is talking about "you", is it just context?

-> yes! By the context we know you is implied

3. Does that mean that "보고 싶다"  means "to want to see / to miss"?

-> yes! It means both

4. Why is an "infinitive" form used in the song?

-> when we talk to ourselves or in a narrative tone like in a journal we use the infinitive form

보고 싶다

5. Can we turn other "want to" examples into infinitive? For example, is 먹고 싶다 valid? (Meaning "To want to eat")

-> yes! If we talk in a narrative tone then we can use 먹고 싶다 too

So 다 form is not for communicative intention it is like inner voice tone
